How Much Must You Earn to Qualify for an SASSA Grant?

Are you wondering whether you qualify for the SASSA grant? If you are looking for financial help from SASSA, it is important to meet the means test criteria. The means test is a process of measuring your assets and income. It ensures that only needy people will receive the grants.

While calculating your income, SASSA considers the following earnings as your income:

  • Any funds you receive from social welfare grants. These may include
  • Unemployment Insurance Fund

What Did SASSA Consider as an Asset?

SASSA considered this money and property as your assets:

  • Your money in a bank account is considered your asset. If you are a married couple, the combined money in your and your spouse’s account is a part of your assets.
  • You and your spouse’s property are considered assets. However, the house you reside in is not counted as a part of your assets.
  • SASSA will add your and your spouse’s investments, such as shares in any company, to your assets.
